Subject: Request for OSI Membership to support my role
Hi [Manager's Name],
I'd like to request [reimbursement for or coverage of] a [$50 or $300] annual membership with the Open Source Initiative (OSI). OSI is the global nonprofit that maintains the Open Source Definition. This membership is a professional development investment that will help me deepen my open source expertise and directly benefit our organization.
It offers immediate, practical value to my role through:
- Connecting with OSI's network will help me learn proven best practices in open source program management, licensing compliance, and community building.
- As an OSI member, I can vote in Board elections, nominate Directors, or even run for a Director seat myself, which means I have a voice in the direction of this industry body.
- OSI membership signals my commitment to open source values and best practices.
- Because OSI is a nonprofit, my membership dues directly support OSI's mission to promote and protect open source software and communities.
- By supporting OSI, we are also giving back to the open source ecosystem that our work depends on.
Let me know if I can move forward with this.
Thanks,
[Your Name]
